WHITE VOLUMES | Contemporary Residence in Vouliagmeni
Contemporary Private Residence on the Athenian Riviera
The architectural proposal by tsigarasdesign studio for a contemporary residence in Vouliagmeni is defined by a composition of pure geometric volumes, a balanced interplay between solid and transparent surfaces, and a distinctive architectural identity. The precision of orthogonal forms is contrasted with carefully introduced curved elements, creating a dynamic composition with a strong sculptural presence and a clear architectural expression.
The central white volume rises above a series of lower horizontal structures clad in textured grey stone. The contrast between materials reinforces the clarity of the composition, while selectively positioned horizontal and vertical openings establish a controlled rhythm across the façades. A cylindrical architectural element and expansive glazed surfaces introduce an alternative geometric language, balancing the solidity of the monolithic forms.
The interior is organized across multiple levels, establishing a clear functional hierarchy while maintaining spatial continuity. Living areas extend naturally towards the outdoor spaces through generous floor-to-ceiling glazing, while private areas are defined by more controlled openings. Vertical circulation is integrated into the overall architectural composition, reinforcing the functional coherence of the residence.
The surrounding landscape is conceived as an integral extension of the architecture. The swimming pool, outdoor lounge areas, linear pergolas, and carefully arranged greenery establish a continuous dialogue between built form and natural surroundings. The interplay of covered and open spaces creates varying conditions of light, shade, and privacy, responding to the Mediterranean climate and the character of the location.
The project represents a contemporary approach to private residential architecture, where geometric precision, material expression, and functional organization converge into a unified architectural composition. A residence that embraces simplicity as a deliberate design principle while maintaining a strong formal identity and a meaningful connection to its natural environment.
