Mykonos Stone Villa

Project Management & Construction | Mykonos, Greece

Set within the dramatic rocky landscape of Mykonos, overlooking the Aegean Sea, the residence unfolds across a series of terraced levels that follow the natural topography of the site. The architectural composition is defined by the integration of built volumes into the terrain, establishing an almost seamless continuity between architecture and the surrounding landscape.

The extensive use of local stone across the façades and retaining walls reinforces the impression that the residence emerges naturally from the rocky hillside. Strong horizontal lines, expansive glazing, and metal shading systems establish a contemporary architectural language in constant dialogue with traditional Cycladic materials and construction techniques.

The arrangement of the different levels responds to the steep inclination of the site, ensuring privacy while maintaining uninterrupted visual connections with the sea. Elongated water features follow the building’s geometry, emphasizing the horizontal composition and creating a distinctive relationship between stone, water, and the natural environment.

Inside, open-plan spaces, large sliding glass openings, and a restrained material palette allow the panoramic views and natural light to become defining elements of the spatial experience. A distinctive feature is the integration of the existing natural rock into the interior architecture, complemented by linear water elements that further strengthen the connection between the residence and its surroundings.

Tsigarasdesign studio undertook the project management and construction, focusing on the coordination of the various construction phases, the precise execution of architectural details, and the overall quality of implementation. The challenging topography, extensive stone masonry, and complex arrangement of multiple levels required a carefully coordinated construction process and particular attention to technical precision.

The result highlights the importance of construction expertise in translating architectural vision into built form, where contemporary geometry, natural stone, and the Aegean landscape come together in a cohesive architectural composition.
